2023 was a busy year of photography for me. The majority of my work this year was black and white – a bit of color as well in-between.
Looking back at the year, I have been working on selecting what I consider my 10 best images (black and white) from the year. This was hard – I managed to down-select to 15; for the rest, I got help from a lot of you who now and then swing by my website.
Thank you to all of you who have taken time to review the candidate images and cast your vote! – I have been blown away by the amount of response I received. What is more, the vote was quite consistent, and on most points it confirmed what I probably sensed in my gut. It was a strong reminder of how hard it is to kill your darlings, even when you know it is the right thing to do.
The images below are the 10 images I landed on for 2023 – shown in the order of votes given in the voting round, which is now closed. They represent a good mix of styles, although street photography weight in heavily. They also represent a mix of places I have been photographing through the year, with four images from the US, two from Portugal, two from Denmark, one from Norway, and one from France.
I look forward to see what 2024 will bring!
